This is the Panasonic HMC150 it records up to 1080i as well as 1080p. It records straight to SD cards which are far cheaper than the p2 cards the HVX uses. This camera retails for about $3400 which is about $2000 less than the HVX.
This is a very tempting camera. I need to move up from my DVX100b, and have always had my eye on the HVX200 (which is the camera we use at Vimeo) but with this cameras price point, I am starting to lean in it’s direction.
Camera people, what do you think? should I save up the extra 2 grand for the HVX, or do you think this camera could perform just as well?
